Hello. We are continually having issues with the PS on Miami Beach 69th.

This time we went it to pay our bill and waited almost an hour for someone to come in. Weve had issues with the automated payments where you would tell us there was a card issue so our Manet was late and slam us with late fees. So now we pay in person because the systems cant be trusted. Having to one there to either assisting in paying bills or renting units is ubsurd.

While I waited at 1:30 est I observed two roaches crawling on the walls. The elevator is still not up to code for 6 years of expired permits.

Now you are all running a special but continue to raise our rent. We want to speak to a customer manager service.

Fraudulent charge

To whom it may concern,

I recently moved my items out of the public storage unit located at 3375 n Druid hills road. My unit was infested with rodents because rodent *** were all over my items (I have photos and videos).

With that being said, I am in the process of filing a claim. However, due to my bed being cover with rodent *** I had to throw it away as well as other items. My movers placed them in the dumpster on the property. The bed did not completely lay flat due to the dumpster being partially full.

The employee at the location named Ro decided to charge me 500 dollars for a cleaning fee. Nothing was left in the unit and all of my item were placed in the dumpster. I have the photo of that as well.

If you can remove that charge off my account that would be great. If you all can do an inspection of this public storage property because the conditions are unacceptable.

Thanks,

Original review Feb 01, 2024

They didnt show my payment when I paid.

App and website dont give balance owed correctly. Site is awful.

It freezes up and opens chat but no one there. Then it showed a balance past due of $323.

Then it shed to pay $50. Then when i refreshed it said pay $129. Then I refreshed it it says pay $20 then I refreshed it it says pay $380.

They raised rent so many times with no notice

I was Paying $253.

but now it says $272. plus $108. $380 total.

Bill due on Feb 1st. Not later until feb 5th.

I pay with credit card but yet I get this message saying payment from checking didnt work from checking.

I checked bank card online and payment was taken.

But didnt sure up on site. I called customer care but doesnt want to let you speak to anyone. Tries to send you to property manager who isnt on site.

A while back I was not more than 30 days late and they cut my locks. They rummaged through my stuff which is inventory.

It was a mess and things ruined. Things missing.

I am going to rent someone else and save money and not be abused.

I was renting with these people since the 70s for my business. I use to have more storage and larger storage with them. I have one left that I will be out of this month.

I am using another location now and have three large storage units with them.

Always nice and half the cost. Oh yes..

and climate controlled. Public storage space is not and only a 10x15.

Unit was sold and I wasn't allowed to obtain my personal items

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On 09/05/23 my unit #4005 was sold. I sent my daughter to the storage location that day to retrieve pictures and diplomas; she spoke with manager and advised she could not enter the unit.

I called and was told I could not retrieve any items. According to the agreement I signed, I should have been allowed to retrieve personal items such as pictures and diplomas up to 14 days after the sell of the unit. I have called and left messages at the allisonville location and have not received a return call. I call customer service and was transferred to manager at the geist location and upon speaking with her, she sent the manager at 62nd and allisonville an email and advised that the manager would return my call.

I waited about 30 days and no phone call, email or postal mail. I called geist manager back and she sent another email and stated that if I did not get in contact with the allisonville manager to give her a call back and she would contact the buyer of my unit to request these items.

To date I have not heard anything from anyone and while the contact with Public Storage stated that i would be allowed a chance to retrieve my pictures and papers with my families social security numbers etc, attached, I was not given any consideration, not even a return call. I still want my pictures, diplomas and papers with social security numbers and due to a lack of management at allisonville rd location I have been violated of what right the contact stated would be available.

User's recommendation: This location does not have staff on premises and manager never answers phone nor returns calls, I would recommend using a location with people available to help. Also, there is no wiggle room as far as when payment is due, doesn't matter if you are never late as soon as you are late several $100 charges will be added to rent. I have used storage units for the last 20 years and have never had a unit sold from under me. Largest unit at this location and was packed to the front of the unit a 4 bedroom house, my unit was sold for $200 and I was billed a remaining balance of $526.

Entry upon change in ownership only applies if you are paid in full up to the day you want entry. That is a protection designed for renters in good standing. What’s so hard to understand?

So, you didn't pay your bill or act like you cared about your stuff and now want to whine. Gotcha...

Selling of my storage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Id like to file a complaint against the public storage company as a whole and the location in Atlanta, GA on Fairburn rd.

I rented a storage at that location May of 2022 right after my mother passed Feb 2022. All of my mothers belongings and my kids things were in that storage.

When I first started paying it was 285.00 by the time you all sold my unit it was at 455.00 Who can even afford that. Im a single mother of 3 who moved to Texas after my mother passed and was doing the best I can to hold our stuff. That was all the memories I had of my mother. I was trying to pay what I could when I could while trying to keep a roof over my kids head with no help.

With me still making payments and all the calls I made to this location it was more than known that I wasnt trying to loose my storage with my deceased mothers belongings in it. When I called customer service, your rude rep basically said its nothing they could do and wouldnt transfer me to a supervisor or better yet give me a number to someone who was over her. Now I know its been 3 months but I have been devastated and crushed since you have sold my unit to some undeserving person who was just going to go through all of our personal stuff and trash it or sell it. Those were my memories of my mother and the last things I had of her.

Im willing to take legal action because this was completely wrong especially raising the prices like you all did within a year knowing that this was impossible to keep paying in full for. My last payment of 200.00 (which is all I could afford) was on 10/28/23 and my storage was sold on 11/16/24. Im still hurt and it has caused even more trauma and heartache to think my mothers belongings, me and my kids belongings were sold to someone who doesnt even know what they bought. I even called treasure seekers trying to get any info I could about the buyer.

Id like to hear from someone on how we can resolve this before I have to take it further. Thanks

Bad customer service

Public Storage - Bad customer service
Please DO NOT RENT from this place. Horrible customer service. Gate was broken often. Not able to access my unit. When gate was working elevator was broken. Move out date comes I paid movers. Cleared one storage unit. Wasn't able to clear second because 2nd floor. The time went over for movers from carrying some things by hand down stairs. Got extra fees by movers. The property manager forget to deactivate code for vacant unit. Now their saying I need to pay for another month when unit was vacant.

Kept account open and kept charging

I called this Public Storage Wheatland CO on Feb 5th and requested our unit be officially closed and a refund be issued. Our company has been out of this unit for a year+.

They called the owner of the company I work for to approve this action, since I had called on behalf of my employer. The owner reached out to me to assure me that he had given permission for them to cut the lock (weird since we emptied the unit over a year ago) and to close our account. I have proof of this phone call and digital communication. They charged our account again on March 1st.

I called them 3 times between March 4 and 5th. On all 3 calls, the man I talked to pretended not to know anything, and made no apologies. I know the unit our company has been empty for over a year. If there is a lock on the unit, then perhaps someone else has been using it, and perhaps Public Storage is collecting 2 rent fees on one unit?

The fact that they continued to charge us for rent AFTER clear communication to close the account is gross business practice and they have not refunded us at all. I have lost all respect for this company.

If you never canceled until 2/5, why wouldn’t there have been a lock on the unit? Regardless if it was empty.

He told you he cut the lock on the unit. I doubt empty or unrented units are just left open for anyone to go into.

Refused to compensate for period when storage space inaccessible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My third floor storage space was inaccessible for half the month because the elevator was out of order. I pay $180 a month. Te company offered me $10 as compensation. Repeated calls to their customer service trying to find out when it would be accessible, and then for a refund were essentially ignored. They get you to store your stuff and then drastically raise rates - I get that that is their business model - but refusing the refund is beyond the pale.

I am a decades-long customer writing to request a refund. Over three days, in addition to my own storage space, I mistakenly reserved and was charged for three new units.

Due to the confusing nature of the website, I mistakenly believed I was only opting to hold these units (the link clearly said "hold") until I could physically inspect the site to see if the size was adequate.

Our storage site has removed its on-site manager and was replaced with a machine. I was unaware of this and have spent the past week trying to see if the reserved spaces were the right size. I still have not been able to visit my last reserved space as it is unmarked!

Long story short, I have been charged for all three units. After calling dozens of times, I spoke with a manager who told me she was going to process a refund, but all I am seeing on my card are two refunds for "$21.49" for the locks.

Meanwhile my credit card was charged $118 and $128 respectively.

These is no way I could adequately judge the correct size of the new units without a property manager or some sort of orientation call. I feel it is highly unethical to be so quick to charge people with an online system that is confusing and uses the word "hold" as part of the process.

Why am i still being charged

Excuse me. I ASKED what i needed to do when I cannot contiur with payments.

Or have room to bring my items home. I was told to catch up my payment and let my storage facility know I was reliquishing responsiblity for it. I forgot the actual term. The woman said she would ask about it and call me back.

She offered to have my lock struck but the issue she refused to acknowledge is that IF I HAD HAD THE SPACE FOR THOSE ITEMS I WOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO PUT THEM IN STORAGE TO BEGIN WITH. So, i didnt go to collect my stuff and now i am again being billed for something i have already done what they told me to do to no longer have an issue here.

Please help me to resolve this. I HAVE NO MORE MONEY!!!

Yes, I am entitled to a CLEAR answer to my question, not one that gives anything other than what I actually am asking about. If there was no other alternative to "pay up and get you stuff out" then THAT IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID!!!

Not do this, then state that. I have worked in retail for decades and know that there are plenty of ppl out there who would choose to hear what they will. It is the reason that there are so many signs stating policy. I only wanted to be informed of proper policy so I would know what I needed to do.

They created "muddy waters" where it seemed things were other than "pay up and get your stuff out now". Not pay up and let them know you are relinquishing your property to them. That is misinformation NOT entitlement.

Entitlement would have me demanding that they hold my stuff without penality or me asking any questions. Which is NOT the case.

Guest

Your sense of entitlement is unbelievable.

Guest

Whoever “she” is, she just works there. Why would she have to acknowledge your items would not be there if you had space.

She doesn’t care and can’t do anything anyway.

They have to keep billing you and make attempts for record keeping. They aren’t going to stop until enough time passes then it will be sent to collections then auctioned.

She is the manager at that location. I have lost my job and cannot continue paying for storage AND I have them in storage because I do NOT have a place for them.

The ENTIRE point of me asking the customer service chat person what I need to do in this situation is COMPLETELY based on NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE MY STUFF OUT OF STORAGE AND PLACE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE. Otherwise I would have already caught up my unit, gotten my stuff out and closed out the account. But since I have nowhere to put my stuff this created the need to find out what I can do to stop building debt. Hence catching up the unit to place it in good standing and relinquishing the unit which is what the person from their customer service chat box said to do.

I get that she just works there and does not actually care.

Yet, I did what I was instructed to do as this person doesn't seem to be actually doing her job leaving me in the same position I was in before I asked the questions to resolve this issue without further harm to me, or anyone else for that matter. Understand?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Vanessa M Xda

You are going to lose your belongings. You are trying to create a false narrative as if you have been misinformed.

When the chat person said catch up, it is obvious to anyone that includes continuing to get charged. YOU are the one that is trying to insert “I shouldn’t be charged further and my stuff should stay here rent free until I catch up because I have no place to store it.” The worker obviously checked, so she is doing her job.

The bottom line is the rent is not optional nor contingent on the fact of inability to pay or lack of other storage. Understand?

Vanessa M Xda
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2483424

Umm, no. I TOTALLY understood that my stuff would more that likely be sold.

Haven't you ever watched storage wars? It is about ppl who buy what ppl like me can no longer afford to pay for their storage AND like me cannot find someplace else for their stuff. ... Entitlement????

Do you understand the concept of what that really is? I asked what I could do... and yes i have been misinformed BY THE COMPANY I ASKED.

That does not mean I am creating a false narrative. Now if they had told me that I had no means to resolve the issue and I just had to get my stuff out...THEN it would have been both entitlement and a false narrative...but that is not what happened.
