this is more about Public Storage corporation than a specific location. Just received notice of an 18.5 % increase in my monthly rate.

Not over some promotional rate but over standard rate. Called PS customer service - got quoted their right to increase rates with 30 day notice. Further CSR would not send me copies of the requested communications or documentation on my complaints and that rates are non-negotiable. So goodbye to PS - my two units will be vacated and one great paying reliable customer bids your organization goodbye.

I will post this message to my social media and review sites. Guessing PS leadership missed the marketing class on what it costs to get a new client versus retain one.

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

I have the same problem. Started renting 2 units @$75 each now they just raised again to $280 each a month.

They raise it every nearby a lot and some times every 6 months!!

It should be illegal what they charge. Pissed

Common practice by big national self storage companies. They do it because they can get away with it.

In markets where there are only a few storage companies they also tend to practice a form of price fixing keeping their rates close to competitors some even having similar fee and increase schemes.Anytime you see promotion with one months free rent be aware they are planning to get that back one way or another. Businesses don't give away squat. Also always, always ask up front what are the yearly increases because many sales policies have the employee avoid all talk of cost instead focusing on "convenience" or the captain obvious features like a secured/gated facility, a roof etc. These companies exploit several things including desperation, local housing costs, hoarding and the fact that they know most people are lazy ie won't shop or move their stuff for awhile anyway.

The current schemes in self storage seem to be gouge the customer for 2-3 years and start the cycle all over again with new customer. Forget longer term steady paying customers.

We have had a similar experience with Public Storage. They raise our rates at least 6-7 times a year.

We did receive documentation stating that this is their policy and within their rights, but it's bad business if you ask me. We are in an area where we did not have a choice, but thankfully a new storage company is building down the street and we will be moving very shortly.
