I had removed my items from my storage unit at the Niles, Illinois location. My friend did not remove the lock from the door and so I am being charged with late fees. I understand this was my mistake so I simply asked if the storage manager can remove the lock once I paid my balance. I am away for school and unable to get to the warehouse. Had been renting a unit for almost 3 years, never late on payment. Prices are too high (and always climbing, sometimes without notice) but that's not the point of this review. First off their $1 offer for your first months rent is false and deceptive advertising... expect to pay some discounted rate for your first month Their late charge is excessive...if I calculated correctly it is about 20%.... of your monthly fee ...shame on me for being a couple days late but I refuse to allow a company with such poor customer service to have access to my bank or credit card info... Initially, and I have had the same unit since 2006 (8 years), if you were late on a payment the feee was OK, $11.00 late fee. Then they increased it to $49.99, and now even more. Rented a unit last Feb..... Didn't return to the unit till end of October.... In July i was in Austin .... Payment lapsed 30 days ..... I paid the payment in August to catch up and have been caught up since .... One error on my part ... When this happened in July they cut my lock off and put a managers lock on .... Need less to say when I showed up in Oct .... all my box's were stolen .... TVs... Read more
